Pantry Helper

As a non-profit we strive to provide referred families and individuals facing difficult situations with one
week’s supply of healthy food. As a volunteer, it would be your job to serve eligible Food Pantry clients
by organizing and distributing perishable and nonperishable food according to established procedures.
Each job during Pantry time has a brief job description and the time you give is greatly appreciated by
MSK staff, guests and permanent volunteers.

Sorters: Pantry Sorters help warehouse volunteers stock up and sort the items the guests will be
receiving for the day. Light lifting of boxes (25-35 lbs.) And standing should be expected for most of the
time while volunteering.

Personal Shoppers: Guides Pantry card holder through the Pantry line with a shopping cart and box
while assisting in the shopping process. Light lifting boxes (25-35 lbs.) And standing should be expected
for the entire time of volunteering.

Client Registration: Greets every Pantry card holder with a warm smile and kind words of
encouragement, as the guest shows their Pantry card to sign in. Updates of status are given to Pantry
card holders at this time as well as a personal shopper should we have enough volunteers that day. If
not, a cart with a box will be given to the Pantry card holder so they can successfully get all items to
their car.

Dress: Closed-toe shoes, no tank tops or short shorts. Long hair should be pulled back in a band. We will
provide aprons.

Parking:  Parking is limited. The best place to park is the back parking lot on the corner of Wilson and S Broad. The church allows us to park in the lot.

There is no place to secure valuables.  Please leave them at home or in your vehicle.
Thank you for volunteering at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen!
